US CAPE VERDEAN ENTREPRENEURS SEEK INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN CAPE VERDE
A delegation made up of 16 Cape Verdean-American entrepreneurs will visit Praia this week beginning today, January 26, in order to identify potential investment opportunities and partnerships with Cape Verdean-based businesses, as well as to evaluate possibilities in terms of cooperation in the social realm.
On Monday a workshop will be held on investment opportunities, organized by investment and tourism promotion agency Cabo Verde Investimentos. In the afternoon, the delegation will visit the University of Cape Verde, and at the end of the day will meet with President Pedro Pires. On the morning of the 29th, the sixteen entrepreneurs will meet with Minister of Infrastructures, Transportation and the Sea Manuel Inocêncio Sousa, the Institute of Communities and the Millennium Challenge Account.
The delegation will also meet with the Leeward Islands Chamber of Commerce, Services and Industry in an event that will include a seminar by specialist Makhtar Thiam on “Investment Opportunities in Cape Verde in the area of Fishing and the Transformation, Conservation and Export of Sea Products.” The United States Embassy in Praia will host a reception in the late afternoon.
On Wednesday, the delegation will meet with various Cape Verdean construction-sector companies, followed by a visit to the Order of Engineers of Cape Verde. The day will conclude with a visit to Minister of Culture Manuel Veiga.
On Thursday, the delegation will meet with Prime Minister José Maria Neves and with Minister of the Economy, Growth and Competitiveness José Brito. The visit ends with a meeting with US Ambassador Roger Pierce.
