NEW CAPE VERDEAN AMBASSADOR FOR POLAND
Jorge Tolentino is Cape Verde’s new ambassador to Poland following the presentation of his credential letters to the country’s president, Lech Kaczynski, on Tuesday, January 15.
Jorge Tolentino’s accreditation as Cape Verde’s ambassador in Warsaw takes place as Praia authorities begin to feel the need for a greater presence in the European Union’s newer member states. This “reinforcement” is the result, as is known, of the recently-signed special partnership accord between Cape Verde and the European Union.
In addition to Poland, Jorge Tolentino is accredited as Cape Verde’s ambassador to Germany, where he resides, and Finland. Other Eastern European countries could follow Poland.
The idea, according to Cape Verdean diplomatic sources, is to rekindle once thriving relations with Eastern European countries and explore the potential that still exists in that part of the continent in the business and educational realms.
