PRAIA HOSTS 9TH MEETING OF THE CAPE VERDE - LUXEMBOURG PARTNERSHIP
Praia will play host beginning at 10:00 am today to the 9th session of the Luxembourg-Cape Verde Partnership Commission. The Prime Ministers of Cape Verde, José Maria Neves, and Luxembourg, Jean-Claude Juncker, will carry out a global evaluation of cooperative relations between the two countries, define guidelines and make decisions regarding the main axes of intervention in the realm of cooperation over the course of the next several years. A new professional training accord will also be signed on the occasion.
Also under analysis will be all of the projects currently in execution within the Framework of the 2006-2010 Indicative Cooperation Program, budgeted at 45 million euros and signed in October 2005 during the 7th session of the Partnership Commission in Luxembourg.
These projects encompass areas such as education, professional training, health, food aid, water and sewage. In addition to tradition cooperation, other modalities have come to be used, including multilateral cooperation in partnership with the United Nations and decentralized cooperation through the Micro-Project Fund, as well as cooperation on the non-governmental organization level, according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The two heads of government will also sign a protocol for the National Employment and Professional Training Support Program, budgeted at 14 million euros.
